About Lotus (ASX:LOT)
Lotus Resources Limited is an ASX-listed uranium company headquartered in Perth. It operates the Kayelekera uranium mine in Malawi and is developing the Letlhakane uranium project in Botswana.
Lotus (ASX:LOT) Resources has secured the last key approval needed to move its first uranium shipment from Kayelekera in Malawi through Zambia to Namibia for export.
The Namibian National Radiation Protection Authority has issued a Transport and Export Authorisation, which the company says completes the key permits and approvals across Malawi, Zambia and Namibia for the first shipment. Earlier approvals came from the Malawian Atomic Energy Regulatory Agency, a Zambian transport licence received through logistics partner Alistair Group, and the Namibian Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism and Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy. The first shipment of four containers, approximately 145k lbs of U3O8, is expected to leave the Kayelekera site in the next week, with road haulage mobilised to site. The company is targeting export ex Walvis Bay during November, with a shipping booking in place, and the product is bound for Orano CE's conversion facility in France.
Routine per-shipment notifications, inspections and approvals are still being executed. The release does not state the sale price, contract terms or a schedule for later shipments.
