Frontier Executes All Major Waroona Stage One Contracts

Frontier Energy (ASX:FHE) said it has executed all major contracts for Stage One of its Waroona Renewable Energy Project in Western Australia, comprising a 132MW solar facility paired with an 81.5MW / 6.9-hour battery energy storage system. The company said all major equipment and construction contracts are fixed price and in line with its expectations, materially reducing execution risk, and that these fixed-price contracts form the majority of the $310 million project budget, which together with contingency of $22 million is fully funded. Equipment packages were awarded to Longi Solar Australia for photovoltaic panels, Trina Storage (Australia) for the battery energy storage system, on arrangements Frontier said include a 20-year warranty and long-term services agreement, SMA Australia for inverters and Nextpower for the tracker system. Engineering, procurement and construction contracts were executed with Monford Group for construction and commissioning of the solar and battery facility and with Global Power Services for the substation works.

Frontier said its Electricity Transfer Access Contract and Interconnection Works Contract with Western Power are now unconditional, allowing export of up to 99MW into the network at the Landwehr Terminal and import of up to 95MW to charge the battery when solar generation is low or unavailable. It said long-lead items for the interconnection works have been procured, the tender process for their construction is well advanced and factory testing of the connecting cable has been completed. More than 200,000 panels with capacities of 650W and 655W are to be installed for Stage One, with the first batch scheduled for delivery in January 2027, and a purchase order has been raised to provide for first delivery of the tracker system in November 2026. Site works are scheduled to commence in September 2026, supported by a recently completed capital raising and credit approved commitments for debt finance. Frontier is free-issuing all major equipment to Monford Group, which is overseeing construction and commissioning and will take delivery at Fremantle Port. Executive Chairman Jamie Cullen said 300 of the company's 830 hectares of grid-adjacent freehold land is committed to Stage One and that the team is already advancing Stage Two. The company said Stage One is scheduled for first generation in 2028.
