About West African Resources (ASX:WAF)
West African Resources Limited is an ASX-listed gold producer headquartered in Perth. It operates the Sanbrado and Kiaka gold mines in Burkina Faso, West Africa.
West African Resources (ASX:WAF) released its September quarter production figures ahead of its full quarterly activities report to show progress against 2026 guidance at its Sanbrado and Kiaka gold production centres in Burkina Faso.
Group gold production was 127,950 oz for the quarter, with 51,920 oz from Sanbrado and 76,030 oz from Kiaka. Group gold sales were 135,245 oz at a realised price of US$4,240/oz. Year-to-date production is 360,857 oz against 2026 annual guidance of 430,000 to 490,000 oz, which the company says it is on track to achieve. Sanbrado milled 716kt at a head grade of 2.4g/t with 94.7% recovery, with production 10% lower than the prior quarter on 9% lower mill throughput. Kiaka processed 2,871kt at 0.9 g/t with 93.1% recovery, lifting production 13% on a 15% increase in mill throughput. The Government of Burkina Faso approved the update to the Sanbrado life of mine plan to include the M5 South underground, where development has commenced and stoping is now scheduled to start in early H2 2027, a delay the company expects to have minimal impact on 2027 gold production.
The permit to operate the explosives manufacturing and storage facility at Kiaka has not yet been approved, and the company says explosives supply remains an operational bottleneck. The release does not report costs or cash, and the full quarterly activities report is due in the coming weeks.
