Lo Herma project resource now at 8.577 million pounds uraniumDrilling targets expansion and hydrogeological confirmation for in-situ recovery miningUS market tailwinds include government nuclear investment and critical minerals designationStrategic partnership with Snow Lake Energy supports exploration funding
American Uranium’s (ASX: AMU) Bruce Lane outlines the latest developments at the company’s flagship Lo Herma project in Wyoming, stating the current uranium resource stands at approximately 8.577 million pounds. Lane highlights that, at a uranium price of $85 USD per pound, the theoretical value of recoverable resources exceeds $1 billion AUD. American Uranium is progressing with drilling aimed at expanding the deposit and conducting hydrogeological testing to assess the aquifer’s suitability for in-situ recovery mining.
Lane identifies the Lo Herma project as positioned near Cameco’s Smith Ranch Highland, which is the largest permitted in-situ uranium facility in the US. He expresses confidence in the geological and metallurgical similarities, noting positive results from alkaline leach testing. Lane mentions that drilling is about halfway complete, with initial results anticipated before the year’s end, depending on weather conditions.
Uranium’s return to the US critical minerals list and substantial government support for nuclear expansion, including an $80 billion initiative with Westinghouse, creates a favourable market backdrop. Lane points to the significant gap between US uranium consumption and production, resulting in future supply opportunities. American Uranium recently raised $4.5 million and secured a strategic investor, Snow Lake Energy. The company’s substantial Wyoming landholding, including additional resources in the Great Divide Basin, positions it well for sector growth.
