Osteopore (ASX:OSX) is expanding its reach in the regenerative medicine sector, with growing global demand for surgical implants that naturally assist bone regeneration. Chief executive Dr Yujing Lim highlights a key advancement—Osteopore’s new collaboration with the National University Hospital in Singapore. This partnership focuses on developing an intraoperative guide to enhance the precision of ventricular drain neurosurgery, leveraging existing products to improve outcomes for both patients and surgeons.

Lim states that the novel guide aims to optimise outcomes by allowing highly accurate catheter placement, while circumventing the need for costly neural navigation equipment. The project is set to progress in two structured phases: design and prototyping, followed by simulated clinical testing. Lim expects regulatory approval could be expedited, as the device is considered lower risk compared to traditional implants, which may facilitate earlier market entry.

Addressing market potential, Lim identifies strong demand, particularly in regions lacking access to expensive navigation devices. An initial market penetration of 1–5% is seen as achievable, supporting further commercial efforts. Financially, Osteopore relies on a convertible note program, with ongoing efforts to ensure a capital-efficient approach. Lim also underlines Australia’s innovation-driven market as a key reason for listing on the ASX in 2019.
