the open: ASX to rise ahead of GDP

Company Interview03 Dec, 2025

The local market is set for a flat opening with ASX futures up 3 points. This comes as global shares mostly rose overnight while Bitcoin rallied having slumped in the previous session.

On Wall Street the major indices finished higher, buoyed by gains in tech shares as expectations build of a Federal Reserve interest rate cut next week. Among the megacap tech stocks Apple, Nvidia, and Microsoft gained, while Intel jumped nearly 8%.

President Trump has all but given away who will become the next Federal Reserve chair when introducing White House economic advisor Kevin Hassett at a White House meeting and saying the next chair was present. Meanwhile, Bitcoin has rallied more than 6% to be above $91,000 but is still down almost 30% since hitting a record in early October.

The US dollar regained ground against the yen on Tuesday, recovering from Monday's selloff, whilst the Australian dollar has climbed to US65.7 cents.
