The Australian sharemarket is set for a slight drop, with ASX futures diving 0.3 per cent, to 8114 points.
The Nasdaq finished down 0.1 per cent, whilst the S&P 500 recovered from an earlier loss, closing 0.2 per cent higher.
Technology giants Meta and Microsoft’s shares jumped over 5 per cent in the latter hours of trading, with both companies’ first-quarter revenue coming in ahead of expectations. Meta reported a revenue of $US42.31 billion for the first quarter, higher than the analysts' average estimate of $US41.40 billion. Microsoft reported a profit of $3.46 per share in the quarter, exceeding expectations of $3.22 per share.
Looking at commodities, copper tumbled over 5.5%, whilst iron ore is down 1% to $98 a ton. Brent crude futures were set at almost 2% lower at $63 a barrel.
Bitcoin saw minimal change, trading at around $94,500 and the Australian dollar has slightly risen to a rate of US64.1 cents.
Locally, quarterly reports are due from Amcor and Woolworths, whilst Rio Tinto will be holding its annual general meeting.
