A poor performance from financial heavyweights combined with the technology sector tracking losses on the Nasdaq saw the S&P/ASX 200 close lower for a second consecutive week, dropping 0.66% over the day and concluding the week 1.26% lower at 8,769.70 points.Wisetech Global shed 2.9% for the day along with Xero dropping 2.7% to drag the Technology sector down 2.3% to wrap up the day of trade.Similarly, the financial sector took a hit headlined by Macquarie following the publishing of its FY26 half year report. The investment banking company missed profit forecasts by 10.4%, seeing the stock slide 5.3%. Among the Big Four, NAB was the only positive mover, gaining 0.6%.Elsewhere, materials proved a mixed sector with Fortescue and Rio Tinto slipping 1.4% and 1.6% respectively to close out the day. While elsewhere, Lynas Rare Earths and Newmount both climbed 3.9% and 2.2%.On the smaller end of town, Alliance Aviation plummeted 41.9% as trading resumed and the company warned FY26 results would fall short of analyst forecasts. Tonight, October non-farms payrolls data is expected to be delayed bythe US government shutdown.
