The local market took its lead from Wall Street and retreated on Friday with trade tensions weighing on investor sentiment. The S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.8%, slipping below 9000 to finish at 8,995.30, although it ended the week 0.85% higher.Gold stocks continued their ascent after bullion soared above US$4,300 an ounce with Northern Star rising 2.7%., while the silver price paused with Unico Silver and Silver Mines Limited slipping 1.5% and 1.4% respectively. Elsewhere in the resources sector, the rare earth stocks came under pressure with Iluka Resources shares falling 2.4% to $8.10 after the company pulled its synthetic rutile forecast, while Lynas slumped 5.8%.In addition, European Lithium sold $76 million worth of Critical Mineral shares to a single US investor.  Iress was among the top performers, up 3.6% on news that the stockbroking platform is engaging with more potential suitors. And Kiwi transport software business EROAD crashed, falling 33.4% after flagging an up to $NZ150 million impairment.Next week, RBA officials speak on trading forums while US inflation data is due.
