Company Interview16 Oct, 2025

In a market update, Westpac says its reported after tax profit for 2025 will be reduced by 56-million dollars because of hedging. It has recognised a restructuring charge of $273-million dollars over the second half of the year as part of productivity initiatives.

And Treasury Wine Estate is holding its AGM today, just after having withdrawn its earnings guidance. Over the first quarter of FY26, the company said shipments to China and the US were negatively affected by depletion trends and distribution disruptions.

Macquarie is reported to have offloaded some of its data centres in a deal worth $61 billion. Macquarie has sold 50 data centres across the Americas to Global Global Infrastructure Partners, and the Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Partnership, a consortium including BlackRock, Nvidia and Microsoft.

Boss Energy has advised that its joint venture partner enCore Energy has found new Uranium at the Alta Mesa project in the US state of Texas.

Stockland has reaffirmed its FY26 guidance... it also expects to distribute 25.2 cents per security in FY26, a similar level to FY25. Southern Cross Media says that underlying earnings are up 129% from the previous corresponding period... and "on track" to meet FY26 guidance.

Santos has narrowed its full year production forecasts because of a slower than anticipated start of its BW Opal floating production, storage and offloading vessel. The impact of floods in the Cooper Basin in Queensland and South Australia has also affected production. The oil and gas producer saw a 12-percent fall in sales revenue over the September quarter, mainly due to maintenance in Western Australia.

And Cosette Pharmaceuticals' attempt to abandon its $672-million takeover of Mayne Pharma has failed. The New South Wales Supreme Court ruled that Cosette must complete the deal. Cosette has been trying to terminate its offer because of what it says is a material adverse change in Mayne's performance.

And GQG Partners has declared a dividend of 3.7 cents a share for the September quarter. The dividend represents 90% of the company's estimated third quarter distributable earnings.

The unemployment rate has increased to a four year high raising the chances of a Melbourne Cup Day cut in official interest rates.
