ASX springs back

The local market rebounded during Thursday's trade helped out by positive tailwinds from Wall Street after Nvidia became the first company in the world to reach a US$4 trillion valuation.The S&P/ASX 200 rallied 0.6% to close at 8,589.20 points.Although US President Donald Trump doubled down on its tariff intentions, iron ore picked up, aided by falling shipments and resilient demand. Market-heavyweight BHP advanced 1.2%.

Meanwhile, the gold miners also tracked a higher bullion price. Sandfire Resources shares fell 0.7% as President Trump announced the 50% tariff on copper would come into effect on August 1.The healthcare sector remained in the red with CSL shedding a further 0.5%. And tech players also receded, despite Nvidia's milestone, with the IT sector down 0.4%.Elsewhere, the RBA launched the  "Project Acacia" initiative, to trial a central bank digital currency. On the index, the banks also supported the rise, with all Big Four ending in positive territory. Elsewhere, Netwealth fell 2.5% on weaker-than-expected quarterly net flows.Tonight, unemployment claims are due in the United States.
