Renewed attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz unnerved investors during Tuesday's trade, sending oil prices higher and gold lower.The negative sentiment weighed on Australian stocks with the S&P/ASX 200 losing 0.3% to finish at 8,804.The large miners were the biggest drag on the broader market with Rio Tinto falling 2%.And the gold miners followed the bullion price lower with Predictive Discovery losing 11%.Coal, uranium and lithium stocks also suffered with Whitehaven down 5.8%, while Deep Yellow and Liontown lost about 7%.Among the best performing stocks was WiseTech Global on news that founder Richard White had stepped down as chairman amid allegations of human trafficking. Shares rose over 6%.The financial sector offered support with NAB regaining some of the previous session's losses to finish 1.3% higher.Netwealth shares rallied after it forecast FY27 funds under administration would increase by up to 30 percent.Among the other movers, Lynas Rare Earths fell 6.3% as it invests in a permanent magnet factory in Malaysia and A2 Milk fell 4.4% despite a positive trading update with Citi warning the company faces earnings risk in FY27.And Nine Entertainment rose 0.5% after signing a seven-year deal with the NRL.
