Amplia Therapeutics shares surge on Eli Lilly lung cancer trial deal ,Chris Burns from Amplia Therapeutics outlines a new clinical trial collaboration with Eli Lilly, combining Amplia’s investigational drug, narmafotinib, with Lilly’s KRAS inhibitor for patients with non-small cell lung cancer who have progressed after initial treatment. Burns states the combination strategy is based on preclinical data suggesting improved responses, durability and tolerability compared with KRAS inhibitors alone, positioning Amplia in a new oncology market segment. He views KRAS inhibitors as a rapidly emerging class across lung, pancreatic and colorectal cancers.

Burns estimates the global lung cancer market at about US$30 billion annually, with roughly 14% of patients carrying the target KRAS mutation. He sees even a subset of this as a significant commercial opportunity, given what he describes as clear unmet medical need. The Eli Lilly partnership is presented as a chance to demonstrate the incremental benefit of narmafotinib alongside a leading KRAS agent and to raise the profile of Amplia Therapeutics (ASX:ATX) globally.

Under the agreement, Amplia funds the study, while Eli Lilly supplies its drug and know‑how and gains an early look at the combination data. Burns notes Amplia holds around $24 million in cash, has no debt, and, in his view, is fully funded and resourced to run the trial in Australia and the US over the next 12–18 months.
