RocketDNA targets global miners with ‘Uber for drones’ platform,Chris Clark from RocketDNA outlines a new memorandum of understanding with mining software giant Deswik, which he views as a key step in scaling autonomous drone operations across the global mining sector. Clark states the integration allows survey-grade drone data to flow directly into Deswik’s mine planning tools, enabling what he describes as near real-time geospatial insights for operators worldwide.
According to Clark, the model resembles an “Uber for drones”, where users trigger flights remotely and receive processed data on their desktop within minutes. He argues that when access to accurate survey data is simplified, miners request more flights, which he sees as positive for RocketDNA’s utilisation and revenue profile. Clark also suggests the technology helps remove workers from “dull, dirty and dangerous” tasks, shifting roles toward analysis and decision-making and opening pathways to AI-enabled workflows.
Clark highlights that the non-binding, non-exclusive MoU is designed as a blueprint for multiple software partnerships, not a one-off. He contends that Deswik’s global rollout could position RocketDNA to service tier-one miners and deploy its Scarlett operating system at scale, allowing any site worker to schedule autonomous drone missions without a licence.
