Cloud gaming subscribers shifting to higher-tier plans amid GPU shortages Partnership with Nvidia’s GeForce NOW seen as core competitive moat Perth telco network viewed as stable, growing base revenue Strategic review flagged to focus capital and, in Cornish’s view, surface more shareholder value
Pentanet lifts earnings outlook as cloud gaming demand accelerates ,Stephen Cornish outlines how Pentanet (ASX:5GG) is, in his view, entering a new phase of growth, with unaudited FY26 earnings expectations lifted 74% to $2.4 million and group revenue up 8% year on year. Cornish states that the core driver is cloud gaming, where subscribers are progressively migrating to higher-tier plans amid global GPU and memory shortages and the shift of chip production towards AI data centres.
Pentanet is described as a key member of Nvidia’s GeForce NOW alliance, owning a large cluster of Nvidia GPUs in Australia and New Zealand. Cornish says the model allows gamers to access high-end performance via subscription on almost any connected device, avoiding increasingly expensive consoles and PCs. He argues this makes the company’s premium cloud gaming service more attractive as hardware prices rise, and claims the user experience is effectively indistinguishable from owning a local high-end gaming rig.
On the telecommunications side, Cornish cites around 8% revenue growth and very low churn from the Perth-based network as a stable, predictable base. He signals a forthcoming strategic review to prioritise the most capital-efficient business units and potentially unlock what he sees as significant unrealised value for shareholders over the next five years.
