ANZ (ASX: ANZ) will shed 3,500 jobs in the next year and take a $560 million restructuring charge - in one of the largest rounds of job cuts in the sector in recent years. The cuts were ordered by new Chief Executive Nuno Matos; with the bank saying the move would simplify operations and reduce duplication across the lender. ANZ said it would also cut 1,000 contractors and review consultants and third-party contracter agreements. Matos is due to release a strategic review on October 13.
BHP (ASX: BHP) has settled its Samarco class action....Agreeing to pay $110 million to Australian shareholders. The mining giant says it expects to recover a majority of the settlement amount from its insurers.
Telix Pharmaceuticals (ASX: TLX) has reached an agreement with the US FDA to resubmit its application for approval for its brain cancer imaging agent. After a first miss, Telix has now received feedback from the FDA, and says it will include additional efficacy study analysis to its new submission.
Elsewhere - gold miner, Genesis Minerals (ASX: GMD) has received approval to build the Tower Hill Mine in Western Australia. The Stage One approval means that first ore will be out in FY28.
Market pressure is noted on BlueScope Steel (ASX:BSL) and CSL (ASX:CSL), both trading ex-dividend.
