Galan Lithium (ASX:GLN) completes phase one construction at Argentine brine project Testing and commissioning under way, with first sales targeted in 2026 Authium secures initial 45,000-tonne offtake linked to nano-filtration technology Expansion from 5,000 to 21,000 tonnes per annum subject to phase two financing
Juan Pablo Vargas, managing director of Galan Lithium, outlines progress at the company’s flagship lithium brine project in Argentina, which he characterises as moving rapidly towards first production and cash flow. Phase one construction for 4,000 tonnes per annum is complete, with testing and commissioning under way. Vargas forecasts sales and cash generation in the second half of 2026, positioning the company as a new lithium producer on the ASX with what he regards as one of Argentina’s strongest resource bases, located alongside Rio Tinto.
Vargas notes that Galan Lithium is already planning expansion from 5,000 tonnes later this year to 21,000 tonnes per annum, a scale-up he says is fully permitted. He highlights the use of natural evaporation ponds and nano-filtration technology to reduce technical risk. An offtake agreement is in place with Australian company Authium, which also contributes to plant technology and operation, covering an initial 45,000 tonnes, with scope for additional offtake once phase two financing is secured.
On funding, Vargas says phase one is fully financed after a $41 million capital raising in January. He expects updated DFS work and commercial debt tendering in the second half of the year to underpin the phase two expansion.
