The S&P/ASX 200 recovered on Wednesday, bouncing 1.30% to 8,793.60 points, as investors wagered on a potential ceasefire in the Strait of Hormuz. Banks and miners led the rebound.

The Big Four banks were higher, a day after the RBA lifted the cash rate, with Westpac helped by expectations of stronger second-half revenue on loan growth and modest rate tailwinds, according to Morningstar. The bank gained 3.4%, along with CBA which rose 3.1%.

The energy sector was weaker on hopes the Hormuz tension would ease. However, in utilities, AGL Energy said it is well placed for at least the next three months of a global fuel crisis. The company also narrowed its full-year earnings guidance.

Elsewhere, JB Hi-Fi slid 6% after its CEO warned of cost pressures and supply constraints.

Data-centre stocks were also in focus. DigiCo REIT jumped a whopping 24.5% after selling a Chicago data-centre facility for $750 million. Infratil hit a record high after CDC landed a data-centre deal.

Overnight, investors will watch results from Uber, DoorDash and Disney, alongside dual-listed Block.
