Orthocell is targeting US growth as takeup of its Remplir collagen-based nerve wrap accelerates. Orthocell chief executive Paul Anderson outlines the firm's international growth strategy centred on its flagship nerve repair device Remplir, with Australia used as the proving ground for clinical data, surgeon adoption and product validation. Anderson states that the company is now in a strong position entering the United States, with leading surgeons engaged, published clinical outcomes and a product designed to simplify surgical workflows. Around 6,000 US surgical cases per year, equating to roughly 10,000 units, is presented as the pathway to cash flow break-even, a target Anderson regards as very achievable.
US hospital access is described as progressing well, with over 90 Value Analysis Committee submissions lodged and more than 30 approvals received. Existing CPT codes are seen as a key advantage, removing the need for lengthy reimbursement battles. Anderson also highlights usage of Remplir in Ukraine through donated product, viewing this as both humanitarian and a real-world validation of outcomes in war-related trauma settings.
Pipeline expansion includes rapid adoption in urological procedures, particularly radical prostatectomy, where hemostatic and anti-adhesion properties are expected to support continence and erectile function outcomes. Orthocell is also pursuing bone regeneration via its stake in Marine Biomedical and complementary product Striate+. Anderson targets eventual ASX 300 inclusion for Orthocell (ASX:OCC), calling the business highly de-risked with broad global regulatory approvals.
