BluGlass signs $1.3m agreement with Fortune 500 leader

Company Interview08 Apr, 2026

Key Points:

BluGlass pursues a “project to product” strategy to build recurring laser diode revenues Focus on GaN visible lasers for AI, quantum, defence, aerospace and autonomous systems Sees strong photonics opportunity in data storage and energy-efficient infrastructure Targets over US$100 million near-term funnel while prioritising scale over near-term profit

BluGlass (ASX:BLG) is targeting a bigger slice of the global laser market through a new US$1.3 million strategic collaboration with a Fortune 500 data storage leader, according to Omer Granit of BluGlass. Granit states this agreement fits a “project to product” strategy, where prototype and research projects ultimately convert into recurring product revenue. He notes BluGlass has announced multiple deals this year, including projects with tier-one defence primes and Army programs alongside Coherent and General Electric.

Granit explains that BluGlass focuses on gallium nitride (GaN) visible laser diodes, used across AI, autonomous vehicles, quantum sensing, quantum computing, aerospace and defence. In his view, GaN lasers are especially effective in the sky and underwater, supporting applications such as unmanned drones and advanced sensing systems. He sees lasers as the core enabling technology beneath many of today’s mega-trends.

In data storage, Granit highlights growing interest in photonics to improve energy efficiency and performance, pointing to collaborations involving Nvidia, Coherent, MKS Instruments’ MKS Momentum, and Tower Semiconductor. He cites the historical outperformance of major US laser stocks such as Coherent, MKS Momentum and Nlight versus the Nasdaq and S&P 500 as evidence that “lasers are a great bet”. BluGlass is pursuing more than US$100 million in near-term opportunities and, according to Granit, prioritising growth to become a leading US and global laser player.
