Bell Financial’s hidden growth engine the market is missing | TIP Emerging Wealth Winners

Company Interview30 Apr, 2026

Bell Financial Group (ASX: BFG) is positioning itself as a structurally misunderstood business, with management arguing the market continues to value it as a cyclical stockbroking firm rather than a higher-quality, platform-led wealth business.

Co-CEO Arnie Selvarajah says while traditional broking remains cash generative, the key shift lies in the platforms division, which now accounts for 34% of revenue but delivers 72% of earnings. This segment is underpinned by recurring, higher-margin revenue streams and proprietary end-to-end technology which spans client interface, CRM and direct connectivity to the ASX, all of which provides both cost advantages and scalability.

Selvarajah says growth is being driven by three pillars: online trading (220,000 clients and ~$44 billion in assets), a fast-scaling private wealth platform (~$6 billion in assets), and new product initiatives aimed at expanding recurring revenue. Management is flagging ~14% NPAT CAGR in platforms, with upside as recent investments and partnerships (including the Premium platform) begin to contribute.

According to Selvarajah, a key opportunity lies in Australia’s “advice gap”, with around 7 million investors underserved. Bell is targeting this cohort through a hybrid advice model, offering lower-cost, modular advice to bridge the gap between self-directed investing and full-service wealth management — a strategy expected to drive client conversion and lifetime value.

While AI is expected to enhance adviser productivity over time, management cautions implementation at scale will be gradual.

Despite a >10% dividend yield and strong cash generation, the stock trades on ~11.7x earnings. Selvarajah argues a re-rating is likely as the market better recognises the growing contribution and quality of its platforms business.
