The S&P/ASX 200 rose again on Thursday, up 0.96% to 8,878.10 points, as global equities rallied and oil prices tumbled on reports the United States and Iran are nearing an agreement to end their war.
The screen was green for miners, especially gold stocks, with Northern Star up 4.13%.
Tech was marginally weaker despite strong US earnings, with valuations still looking stretched. Megaport bucked the trend, and jumped 9.3% after securing a US compute and storage contract worth just over $35 million. And Zip rose after reaffirming its FY26 guidance.
Meanwhile, company news delivered some of the biggest market moves. Tabcorp crashed 23.6% in its worst intraday session ever after a money-laundering probe.
Super Retail hit a three-year low on flat like-for-like sales, with Middle East inflation pressures weighing on spending. And Orica jumped the most in a year, up 7.5%, after a robust first-half outlook.
In the US tonight, results are scheduled for McDonald's, Airbnb, Coinbase and Expedia while weekly initial jobless claims are also out.
Looking ahead tomorrow; Macquarie reports full-year results, alongside quarterly updates from News Corp, REA Group and QBE Insurance.
